Case Study: Nautilus

Inspired by characters and storylines created by Jules Verne, Nautilus is a ten-part live-action sci-fi adventure original developed and produced by Moonriver TV’s Xavier Marchand and Seven Stories’ Anand Tucker and charts the origin story of Captain Nemo and his legendary submarine, The Nautilus.

Starring Shazad Latif in the lead role of Captain Nemo, Nautilus tells Verne’s story from Nemo’s point of view: an Indian Prince robbed of his birthright and family, a prisoner of the East India Company and a man bent on revenge against the forces which have taken everything from him.

With an inspiring cast of local talent, Georgia Flood, Damien Garvey and Luke Arnold joining Shazad onboard the awe-inspiring The Nautilus, viewers are taken along with Nemo as he battles with his enemy, but also discovers a magical underwater world, learns to take his place as leader of the crew, and goes on an unforgettable adventure beneath the sea.

The series was shot at Village Roadshow Studios and on location around the Gold Coast, with support from the Australian Government’s Location Incentive, from the Queensland Government via Screen Queensland's Production Attraction Strategy. Proudly supported by the City of Gold Coast via the City of Gold Coast’s Film Attraction Fund.
