City of Gold Coast partners with key stakeholders, including the Village Roadshow Studios, to showcase the city’s film capabilities and acts as a coordinated voice for all sectors of the Gold Coast film industry.
City of Gold Coast Screen Attraction Program
The City Economy team at Council is the interface for local filming information and financial incentive programs while also providing support to production companies looking to film in the city.
The Screen Attraction Program is unique for local government in Australia and is independent from the filming incentives provided through the federal government’s Department of Arts and the state government’s Screen Queensland.
The program is based on the following eligibility criteria:
• Productions must have an Australian broadcast or screening in place or under negotiation.
• Applicants can be international, national or Gold Coast productions or postproduction, games, animation and visual effects studios with a track record of successfully delivering and screening completed projects.
• The production and/or post-production office of the program must be located on the Gold Coast.
• A minimum Gold Coast production or post-production expenditure of $750,000.
• Applications must be made prior to the completion of pre-production.
